The Upanishads represent the most inspired expression of Eastern spirituality and philosophical insight. This selection of verses is taken from seven of the principal Upanishads. In his commentary, Hari Prasad Shastri shows how their deeper truths remain rich sources of guidance for those in quest of inner freedom.
This is an ideal introduction to the inspiring thoughts and spiritual practices revealed in the Upanishads, among the oldest spiritual documents in the world and ultimate source of the non-dual philosophy on which the Yoga of Self-Knowlege is based. Some 90 verses have been selected from the Isha, Katha, Mundaka, Aitareya, Taittiriya, Kena and Shvetashvatara Upanishads. As well as the English translation and commentary, each verse is given in the original Devanagari script, with Romanised transliteration.
'A treasure house of wisdom, which enables us to study short, but vital, passages, helping us to gain the calm, accepting state of mind which takes us a step further towards peace and enlightenment.' Yoga and Life
